Europe on Track
With the project Europe on Track, the EAB launches a new innovative exchange format with an annually changing focus on relevant issues within the EU.
We open the series with a focus on raising awareness about gender (in)equality in Europe.
The project invites and encourages young citizens to think about gender equality and European integration and to participate in decision-making processes. Young Europeans will literally board a train that will cross at least six countries.
Through study visits and public events, the participants will research good examples and challenges on the topic in advance. They will discuss, argue and deliberate with experts and policy makers and continue their journey. The two simultaneous journeys will meet for a final workshop in Barcelona. As a result, the participants will hand over a catalogue of proposals for improving gender equality to the Spanish EU Presidency in Madrid.
The participants will not only discuss Europe's diversity, but will use Europe's railway lines - from Eurocity to local trains - to develop them into a communication network and connect different stations for thematic adventure journeys.
The results
The participants compiled 15 proposals for improving gender equality in Europe in a brochure and presented them to the Spanish EU Council Presidency in Madrid. The brochure is available for download here, together with documentation of the project activities.
It will be sent to national and European organisations and institutions for further dissemination, together with the wish to advance the discussion on gender equality.
